This has been the most torturous for Chelsea over the last 30 years and to correct their failings, Hiddink is looking to bolster his squad with world class players.
If the latest reports according to the Metro are anything to by, Chelsea are closing in on a deal for their transfer long-term target Alex Texeira.
The 26-year-old Brazilian joined the Shakhtar from Vasco de Gama in the December of 2009. He was slowly introduced into the team but has slowly become the best player for the club.
He ended last season for the club with 22 goals in 37 games but has even become better this season. Thus far, he has scored 26 goals in 26 games for the Ukrainian side.
He has drawn attraction from several clubs including Juventus and Paris Saint Germain but the Blues are understood to be in pole position. It is believed that Oscar and Willian have asked the player to join Chelsea this January.
Texeira has said he would love to play for Chelsea while Mourinho was at the helms but Hiddink is yet interested in the attacking midfielder.
The report claims Texeira has verbally agreed to join Chelsea while negotiation between Chelsea and Shahkar is on-going. He is rated at £30 million.
Texeira can play behind the striker or as striker and will provide more depth for Hiddink.
