Chelsea will make a bid for the Premier League leading scorer, Jamie Vardy. According to reports, the club will table a £39million bid for the Leicester striker in the January transfer window. The striker who recently broke Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s long standing record has been in hot form this season.
The striker’s form has been instrumental to his club’s fortune this season. Leicester currently top the league table and are now been regarded as title contenders. The 28-yearr old is a target for a host of top clubs in England and Chelsea may likely take the first shot.
Manchester United who are obviously in need of attackers are also in the race to sign the Leicester city striker. The blues have struggled in front of goal this season and have only been able to score just 18 league goals this term, only five of those came from the club’s strikers.
It was earlier reported that Mourinho was planing a bid for the player in January, but the Portuguese was eventually sacked. This however have not doused speculations of a potential Chelsea bid. It is believed that the club will still push for the striker despite Mourinho’s absence.
According to the Metro, the bid would be around £30million and Leicester have made it clear to Chelsea if such a bid is made, they will accept it. Vardy would also be eligible to feature in the Champions League as Chelsea are still in Europes elite competition despite their bad form.
Vardy have scored 15 league goals so far. Leicester City coach, Claudio Ranieri have previously revealed that the league leading scorer wont be sold in January.
