£30m Rated CB Set To Join Chelsea As Terry Replacement – Not Varane

Eden-Hazard

According to reports in the Spanish media today, Chelsea may be preparing to make a move for high rated Athletico Bilbao’s Aymeric Laporte. According to the paper, Chelsea are one of the many clubs who have indicated interest in the 20 year old centre defender. Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Liverpool are also reportedly interested in signing the player who has a reported release clause of €42m or £30m when converted to pounds.

The paper claims Chelsea have turned on their attention to £30m rated Aymeric Laporte because they have been advised it is almost impossible to get Varane from Real Madrid. Jose Mourinho managed Rafa Varane when he was at Real Madrid and is a known admirer of the player. This coupled with the fact that Varane has not seen much regular playing time at Real Madrid has helped in fuelling speculations about the player’s future. Varane has only recently said he would like to stay at Real Madrid and fight for his chance with the team.

As a Chelsea fan who regularly watches the la liga, I will definitely like Varane at Chelsea but Aymeric Laporte is definitely not a bad defender either. He may just be 20 years and not as popular Varane, but this is due mainly to the fact that he plays for a club that rarely gets the attention of the media.

Aymeric Laporte has been rock solid for Real Madrid this season just like he was last season. According to AS Chelsea have a good chance of signing Aymeric Laporte because he is an Adidas player and of course, Chelsea only recently signed a bumper deal with the German kit marketers.
