£78,000-A-Week Brazilian Set For Chelsea Transfer In £11m Deal

Sevilla is reportedly open to bringing in Chelsea wing-back, Filipe Luís this summer for a fee around £11million. After arriving from Atlético Madrid this past summer, the 29 year-old Brazilian has yet to make an impact in José Mourinho’s squad, only appearing in 12 Premier League matches this season. Falling behind Branislav Ivanović and César Azpilicueta in Mourinho’s mind, Luís finds himself without a spot on the team. He has apparently grown unsettled due to his lack of matches, but has not made any comments on a potential move this summer, except stating that he would be open to a move back to Spain. Atlético Madrid is also reportedly interested in bringing back their former star, and Inter Milan and Chelsea have been discussing a loan move for the wing-back.

Filipe Luís could be one of the few players to leave Stamford Bridge, after Mourinho admittedly stated that he loves his current squad, and no changes need to be made. If Filipe Luís does not want to leave, then Mourinho should not sell him. After signing him for a meager fee of £15.8million, it would be silly to sell him for anything less. Filipe Luís is still a world-class wing-back, one of the best in the world at pushing forward and creating mismatches, allowing Eden Hazard and Diego Costa to roam the box more freely. If Luís is actually unsettled, then Mourinho should grant him his wishes and send him back to La Liga, but if he is ready to fight for a spot, then Chelsea supporters should be jumping in jubilance because their star wing-back will not be leaving this summer.

If Luís is to leave, then Chelsea is prepared to bring in his replacement. 25 year-old, English full-back Aaron Cresswell has been linked to Chelsea, for a fee around £20million, but Mourinho should be able to sign him for about £16million-£18million. After impressing England’s top clubs this season, the West Ham United full-back is ready to take his career to the next level. With links to Manchester City and Arsenal, Chelsea could find themselves in a sticky situation next season.

Chelsea’s first priority is to keep their Brazilian wing-back, but if they can’t, a bid for Aaron Cresswell will be in the making.
