Confirmed reports say that following the poor run of Chelsea thus far, the club’s owner and coach have met over a decision to let some players go by January due to their poor and unimpressive form since the season began. This is in order to bring in new faces by Winter as these players have been seen as surplus to requirements at the Stamford Bridge.
Despite suggestions from many quarters that Mourinho might not remain with Chelsea until then, Abrahamovich rather seems willing to hold on to the Portuguese and has declared his support for the former Real Madrid coach despite the poor results.
Some senior players, notably John Terry, Diego Costa, Ramires and Fabregas are also in support of their boss, and have continued to express their backing for the Portuguese. Chelsea are currently 16th on the log due to their latest defeat on weekend at the hands of Stoke City. With changes already anticipated, the likes of Senegalese defender and Summer signing Papy Djolobodji, who has seen action only this season, Radamel Falcao, John Obi Mikel, Oscar and Eden Hazard are tipped to be top of the list bound to be shown the exit by Winter, although no specific names were mentioned.
Chelsea are looking at bringing in new additions to the squad, with Everton’s John Stones and PSG’s Macquinhos major options for a central back position to a defence that has fallen apart this season. Paul Pogba is also back on the target list, with Chelsea still keen on getting the Juventus midfielder after failing to during the Summer transfer. Eden Hazard’s time at the Bridge might have neared its end after his game and form have dropped significantly this season as the management are looking at launching another bid for Atletico’s wideman cum striker, Antoine Griezmann who is seen as a worthy replacement for the Belgium winger.
