Chelsea are reportedly ready to break the banks for former Manchester United France international, Paul Pogba. According to reports from the Daily Star, the London club are plotting an irresistible bid for the 23-year old next summer. The player who currently plays for Juventus has been on Chelsea’s radar since last summer and reports claims the Blues are now ready to show a renewed interest in their target next summer.
According to Buzz Sports via Daily Mail, The London club are planning a squad overhaul next summer and plans to bring in fresh, top class players in replacement of a set that has disappointed, barely 7 months after winning the Premier League title. According to the Daily Express, the Juventus midfielder was part of Chelsea’s top target last summer, but the French player was reported to have refused all advances from the Blues.
Chelsea have been linked with a host of top midfielders this season due to the pitiable form, Chelsea’s midfield maestro, Cesc Fabregas has suffered this season. Fabregas had a wonderful last season with Chelsea, helping the Blues to win the Premier League and the League Cup, notching 18 assists and 3 league goals in the process. The 28-year old has been a shadow of his former self this season. He has only been able to get just a meager 4 assists to his name this season.
The Chelsea board is reported to be lining up Pogba as the effective replacement for the Spaniard who was even recently reported to be on the verge of a Stamford Bridge exit. Chelsea will have to endure a great competition from Barcelona if they are to sign the former Manchester United man who left Old Trafford in 2012 due to inconsistent playing time. Chelsea will have to put up a great fight, as Camp Nou has always been his most preferred destination.
Pogba joined Juventus in 2012 and has since gone to make 105 appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals and as well establishing himself as a key member of the team. Pogba has been one of the most sought after player in the world since his break in the Juventus team. His enviable performances have also earned him some caps with France national side.
