Chelsea are looking to freshen up their squad at the end of the season by selling some of their older players and bringing in younger replacements. Didier Drogba and Malouda have already been mentioned as possibilities to leave in the summer. Now Michael Essien could be another player heading for the Stamford Bridge exit.
AC Milan are also looking to replace some of their older players, although the Rossoneri are able to keep players fit well into their mid-thirties with help of the famous Milan-Lab. Gattuso, 33, Seedorf, 35, Pirlo, 32 and Ambrosini, 34 all need replacing soon and Michael Essien could be one of the players to do so. At 28 Essien is relatively young compared to those players and will be able to do well in the slower paced Serie A.
However AC Milan coach Massimilian Allegri will have some convincing to do if he wants to persuade Carlo Ancelotti to part with Essien, but a good enough offer may tempt Chelsea.
Meanwhile AC Milan’s Kevin Prince Boateng who is Essien’s Ghana team-mate has reportedly been in touch with the midfielder in order to try and persuade him to make the switch to the San Siro.
