Agent Of Inter Midfielder Guarin Confirms Talks With Chelsea

Chelsea appears to have stolen a match on rivals Manchester United in a bid to sign Fredy Guarin.

The player, who is in a form of his life in the Serie A, is also on the transfer wanted lists of Man United and it is being reported that a transfer to Stamford Bridge is now in the offing. The asking price according to report is put at €15 Million; a fee not considered too high for a Colombian who has added quality to the current Inter Milan midfield.

Reports were rife earlier this month that United manager, David Moyes had sent some representatives to meet with the 27 year old Colombian midfielder with the hope of negotiating his transfer to Old Trafford. Reports however, suggested that the player was not interested in making the move out of Italy just yet.

“I cannot deny there is something, I haven’t spoken with Mourinho but my agent did,” Guarin told reporters.

“However, I hope Inter consider my will to stay.”

Inter’s director general however, plays down the rumour claiming that:

“Guarin has such talent that he would be tempting for so many teams on the transfer market and boss Walter Mazzarri has made him a better player.

“Right now, though, we are just talking about rumours. Guarin is a champion who belongs to us and we are keeping a tight grip on him.

“If we make any moves on the market, both in buying or selling, then we will do so with the intention of strengthening the side,” Marco Fassone told Radio RAI.

In a twist likely to suggest the player could be on his way to play for the Blues, the new Inter owner, Erick Thohir has admitted that Guarin could be on his way out of the club.

Guarin is a great player, I like him a lot. We would obviously love to keep him, but the situation in Europe is not like in Indonesia,” he said.

“When there are great offers from big clubs, we have to take them into account. And above all, we can’t make a player stay when his heart is not in it, but at another club.”

Having seen him play a couple of time, I must confess this is a transfer that I will definitely like to see us push through. The good thing is; he is available for a price that we should be able to afford without sweat.

If signed, his signing is surely going to be one that will put paid to the career of Michael Essien and Mikel Obi who are currently down the pecking order at the club and will likely further go down ward IF Guarin signs for us.
