Chelsea have been linked with Lyon highest goal scorer of the season, Alexandre Lacazette. Having registered 31 goals in 38 appearances, he has solely helped the team give fierce competition to PSG, who only leads the club with 3 points, with 4 goals left for the Ligue one to come to an end. The France international current contract with Lyon ends in 2018, but the EPL title holders are ready to pay 15 million pounds, and also swap striker, Remy for the deal.
Remy hasn’t had a very good season at Stamford bridge as he has been plagued with injuries all season-long, thereby making him play second fiddle to injury-prone Diego Costa. Although having proved himself earlier at QPR and NEWCASTLE, Loic Remy has had a good time in the EPL since moving in from Ligue one few seasons ago, but his spell at Chelsea hasn’t been eye-catching. And his future is likely to be sacrificed for the transfer of his fellow compatriot, Lacazette.
The Chelsea team coach has speculated that he wants to make two major signings by summer, including strikers, and all could be pointing at Lacazette. The forward is also being targeted by Arsenal and Liverpool, but the Blues are ready to pay him 48 thousand pounds weekly in order to beat other clubs to his signature.
Chelsea has lacked striking power all through the season campaign, as ageing striker, Drogba has had to do much of the work, with Costa and Remy unavailable most of the time. Mourinho will definitely bring a key striker to the bridge next season, and with Lacazette’s style of play, which includes strength, agility and a sharp eye on goal, the team will definitely be ready to snatch him up once the opportunity to do so eventually comes. The blues want to do better at the continental level next season, after only managing a round of 16 as their best this season in the Champions League.
