Edison Cavani is on his way out of France come next season. The Uruguayan forward had earlier submitted a transfer request to the French capital’s club. Chelsea was seen as a likely destination, but it now seems Italy is the next port of call for the 28 year-old. He had been earlier linked with a Stamford bridge move, a move the forward claimed to be his dream as a child, but the dream’s fruition doesn’t seem to be next season. But who knows? Chelsea’s relationship with PSG might just turn tables. It is Chelsea.
Manchester United were earlier interested in the forward’s signature, but a 22 million pound – deal has reportedly been agreed with the Old Lady of Turin, and the transfer is set to be finalized when the transfer window opens.
Cavani has found himself playing out of position at PSG, in order to allow space for the cocky Zlatan. And he has expressed his displeasure at such change of position. The position has made his goal tally reduce in his two seasons at PSG. He has only managed 16 goals in 32 league appearances this term, and also in 30 last season. This is relatively low when compared with the 29 goals he pulled in during league features in his last season with Napoli, and in the previous two seasons where he scored 23 and 26 respectively.
Chelsea had plans to bring him to the club in order to add more options to their almost-dwindling attack force. With Drogba and Remy likely to depart, Cavani has been seen as a worthy striker to pair Costa. But things have gone the other way as he has allegedly agreed to a 5-year deal with the Serie A Champions that will earn him around 5.5 million pounds on a yearly basis.
