£70million star, Paul Pogba has officially quit Juventus, handing in his transfer request according to Spanish newspaper AS. The Frenchman has been linked to virtually every big club in Europe, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea. And as the 2014/2015 football season dwindles down, Pogba will start to think about which club he wants to join. Now officially ruling out a possibility of staying in Italy, the managers of these clubs will be looking to pursue Pogba’s signature even harder.

Pogba could be key in particular to Chelsea. With the recent dip in form from Oscar, and the need for another midfielder, Pogba would be the ideal signing for José Mourinho. His impressive control, vision, matched with his jaw-dropping shot; give Pogba the potential to become one of the greatest Premier League central midfielders. Paired in a midfield triangle with Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic, he would thrive. Mourinho tried his best to create a midfield trio of Frank Lampard, Claude Makélélé, and Steven Gerrard, and Pogba, Cesc and Matic could be just as impressive. Pogba being only 22 years old doesn’t hurt either, leaving him plenty of time to adapt and improve his game in the Premier League.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will have to cough up a large amount of funds to sign Pogba, and with Financial Fair Play rules in full swing, he might even have to pay the £50million fee if he and Mourinho decide not to sell and meet the requirements, which is unlikely to happen. Real Madrid and their sponsorship deal with Emirates seem to have an unlimited amount to spend every summer. Spending big on players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and James Rodríguez, Real Madrid wouldn’t hesitate to make the move for Pogba.

Paul Pogba will succeed no matter where he decides to play out his career, but whichever club he chooses will have one of the brightest young footballers in the world, with potential to become one of the greatest to ever step on the pitch. José Mourinho should do everything he can to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
