As the 2014/2015 football season begins to dwindle down, transfer rumors are starting to ramp up. One of the hottest names on the market is Palermo’s Paulo Dybala. Dybala is a 21 year old, Argentine striker that has exploded this season in the Serie A. He has scored 13 goals, and assisted 10 in 34 league appearances. His 10 assists is a league best, and as a result he has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs. Dybala has long been linked to a move away from Palermo, ever since he became a star. Juventus is set to beat the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, and Internazionale to Dybala’s signature, for a fee around £26million [Tuttosport]. This news is not surprising, because Dybala had commented on where he wanted to go, fancying staying in Italy…

“I love Italy. This is the country that made me famous and I would love to stay in Serie A. It’s a lot easier for a striker when you have a playmaker like Pirlo behind you. He makes even the most difficult things look easy. His genius was plain to see against Monaco in the Champions League. His pass eventually led to the penalty. Obviously Alvaro Morata played a role in it, but the move all started with Pirlo. There are some big teams out there who don’t play in Champions League and I can’t deny that I’d love to play in Europe’s most prestigious competition.”

Chelsea should be doing everything that they can to convince Dybala that Stamford Bridge is his home. With the imminent departure of Didier Drogba to the MLS, and the possibility of Loïc Rémy leaving after a disappointing debut year for Chelsea, José Mourinho will have look to strengthen his attacking corps this summer.  He does not need a player that would start over Diego Costa, but he simply needs a quality reserve. Dybala fits the need, and he fits it well with his many upsides. He has the pace to beat English center backs, the passes to link up with Eden Hazard and Cesc Fàbregas and the finish to beat goalkeepers like David de Gea and Hugo Lloris.
