EPL champions, Chelsea are keen on bringing Borussia Dortmund midfielder, İlkay Gündoğan to the Stamford bridge next season. The club has expressed concerns over midfielders Mikel and Ramires, and the duo are likely to be on their way out of the team when the transfer window opens. The Coach has fallen out with the pair’s performances of recent, and therefore opted for other options, in order to give the needed power to the midfield, which İlkay Gündoğan is likely to be part of.
The midfielder will be available for 35 million pounds, after his buyout clause was raised of recent by the club. Gündoğan wants to leave the Signal Iduna Park by summer as confirmed by the club’s sporting director, Michael Zorc. Manchester United and Arsenal are in race to sign the midfielder for 30 million pounds, but he hasn’t made any comments concerning the bid, and Chelsea have plans to beat both club to his signature. His creativity and mobility in the heart of the midfield are features that endear him to many.
Though he appeared only for the club at the league during his debut season, and has admittedly had things go the way he didn’t expect, but he has gone ahead to integrate himself to the squad, and earn coach Jurgen Klopp’s trust. This has made him appear 18 times in the current season and getting 3 goals in the process. His contract expires by next year’s June, and the Germany international doesn’t have contract-extension plans on his mind.
As the transfer window opens, Chelsea will be looking forward to bringing in İlkay Gündoğan into the team as preparations towards next season. He will be a great addition to the midfield, and he is a potential to partner Matic in deep midfield due to his intelligence possession and tactical discipline.
