According to the British media, Chelsea’s Brazilian midfielder Willian is close to agreeing a new £34.3 million contract with the club.
According to reports the midfielder is ready to commit to a new deal that will see him have a significant raise in weekly salary. Willian currently earns £80,000 a week in his current contract that has just two and a half years left.
But the contract extension will see him earn £120,000 a week and will run till 2021. The reports further state that Willian and his representative are in advanced talks with the premier league champions concerning the extension
The contract talks have lingered for months now with both the club (Chelsea) and Willian’s camp are confident that an agreement is close.
The Brazilian midfielder is expected to become the third senior blues player to commit to fresh terms in a short period, after the club announced new deals for Gary Cahill and Ramires.
Willian joined Chelsea in 2013/2014 season from Ukrainian club Shaktar Donetsk and has since grown into a first team regular for the club. He is known for his pace and as a box to box attacking midfielder with great tackling skills with an excellent free kick accuracy having scored all his goals this season from free kicks.
He is by far Chelsea’s best performer in a very embarrassing season, and is the clubs highest goal scorer this season in all competitions despite the premier league champions generally under achieving this season.
