Chelsea have won the Premier League title for the first time in five years this season, and they won the League Cup, but the most impressive part of the season was the utter domination in the Premier League. Chelsea has been sitting in first place from the very first week, and they will be at the top at the last week of the season, but that will not stop José Mourinho from strengthening his squad this summer. Multiple players have been linked to possible moves to Stamford Bridge, most notably Antoine Griezmann. Chelsea are reportedly ready to ramp up their chase for the Atletico Madrid forward [Express].

This signing would not surprise me in the least bit, especially with the lack of depth on the bench if Diego Costa is not available, and the shaky performances we have seen from Oscar so far this season. Oscar in particular has been linked to moves away from London, with Juventus and PSG reported to be very interested in singing the young Brazilian. After selling Juan Mata to make way for him, he hasn’t fulfilled the expectations and he could pay the consequences this summer.

At striker, Chelsea has to decide whether or not to extend the contract of Didier Drogba, who has been greatly affected by his age. Now 36 years old, Drogba’s pace is virtually gone, and his prolific scoring attribute has gone away with it. Chelsea will have to add another striker and winger/attacking midfielder this summer, and they can fill all of those holes by signing Griezmann. The Frenchman can play up top as a striker, or out wide as a winger. He will most likely play on the right wing, across from Eden Hazard, that would push Willian into the number 10 role, replacing Oscar.

Griezmann is one of the most prolific scorers in the world, and would be a great player at Chelsea. After signing Filipe Luis and Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid last season, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Chelsea go back to trying to sign another player away from the Vicente Calderon this coming summer.
