Almost Done – Bayern Munich Target Set To Sign Two Years Chelsea Deal

Branislav Ivanović

According to reports, Serbia national team captain Branislav Ivanović has turned down German champions, Bayern Munich’s offer to bring him to the Bundesliga. He has chosen to continue with the Blues as next season approaches. There were earlier reports that the services of the 31 years old right back is being sought after by the Guardiola-coached side. Chelsea is known to offer over-30 years aged players only one year deals, and it was believed a chance to play top flight football in the German league, and an attractive financial package might lure him away from Stamford Bridge.

In 2008, he signed a three and half years deal with Chelsea worth £9.7 million. Although he had a shaky start to life at the team, but he has since risen to be one of the most important players of the club and also a defender of worth in the EPL. He was recently voted the right back of the season in the PFA team of the year. He has five assists, same with Mesut Ozil, and four goals in 34 appearances in the league this season.

By February next year, his contract expires, and he is expected to renew, as he continues to be a regular part of the Jose Mourinho-lead squad. And more also, since his family are well-settled in London, a move away from England isn’t likely feasible for now. Ivanovic will definitely remain a strong member of the club, as he still has a lot in him as far as defending goes. Hence,  Champions League semifinalists, Bayern are better off looking elsewhere for a right back, as all indications show that he isn’t ready to call it quit at the Stamford bridge yet. He has also been said to be a favourite player of Blues owner and Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, and with his form, the Russian won’t be ready to let him go right now.
