Real Madrid is reportedly ready to accept a £96million bid from Manchester United for Gareth Bale [Express]. Louis van Gaal actually bid in the region of £87million for the Welsh winger, but Real Madrid denied and demanded more which Manchester United are willing to pay. After purchasing Ángel Di María from the King’s Club last summer, Van Gaal wants to add another superstar to his lineup.

A fee at £96million would break the transfer record that is already held by Bale when he left White Hart Lane for the Santiago Bernabéu.  After a recent drop in form and Madrid fans showing their frustration by verbally harassing him and trashing his car. Real Madrid are also looking to sign Juventus star, Paul Pogba this summer, and the Bale transfer would provide the funds necessary for the move. A very interesting summer is in the making, with large amounts of money and big names being linked to other big clubs.

For Chelsea supporters, this is devastating news. We were hoping that Gareth Bale would be lining up on the right wing, next to Diego Costa and across from Eden Hazard, creating one of the best attacks in the world, rivaling the likes of Messi/Neymar/Suárez and Benzema/Ronaldo/James. Willian, who hasn’t impressed some this season would be replaced by the Welshman. The move for Bale could be a little unrealistic, but it would make perfect sense. Chelsea has actually been linked to the 25 year-old winger, but no solid reports have been made.

After signing Juan Cuadrado this January, and already having Eden Hazard and Willian playing in the first team, Chelsea is not short of talent at the winger position. With Bertrand Traoré, Lucas Piazon, Christian Atsu, Mohammed Salah, and Victor Moses on loan, Mourinho would have to sell a few of these wingers to make room for Bale.

Gareth Bale is a world-class player, and he would be a perfect fit at Chelsea, but he is not worth £96million. If his price tag drops substantially (£50million), then this move would be possible. Very sad news for all football fans, as it would be great to watch Hazard, Bale and Costa work their magic next season.
