ALMOST DONE – Chelsea Agree Deal To Sign Griezmann, Frenchman To Undergo Medical Before January One

If reports in the Spaniard media this afternoon is anything to go by, then it is only a matter of when and not IF Antoine Griezmann will join Chelsea. According to the Spaniard press, Chelsea have agreed verbal terms with the French and all thats left is for the two clubs involved to agree a deal.

Last summer, Griezmann was constantly linked with a move to Chelsea with reports going as far as claiming technical director Michael Enemaelo had flown to Spain to hold talks with Atletico Madrid in a bid to help Chelsea sign the player. Although the player has since gone on to sign an extension to his deal ( and a hike of his release clause ), this has not stopped Chelsea from going after the player.

It is reported that Chelsea see him as their number target for the winter transfer window and should the Blues and Madrid be able to agree a fee, the player will undergo a medical with Chelsea before January one and a deal could be announced as early as the first week of January when the transfer window would have opened proper and clubs would be allowed to register new players.

Should Griezmann sign for Chelsea, it will remain to be see what happens to the rumours linking the club to the signing of Brazil star Alex Texieria as I can’t see how Chelsea will sign both player sin the same transfer window.
