The quality of French players playing at home is of topnotch. Leagues from all around the world have been known to always have an eye on the French Ligue One in order to scout for players to increase their stock, and French players are also targets anytime the transfer window opens.
Chelsea is such of those clubs, and the club has had a good share of great former French league players, most notably Didier Drogba. His exploits for the Stamford bridge side are endless, he is such a talent that he had to be re-signed, and his second stint no doubt helped the club win its first league title in 5 years. Remy Loic and Kurt Zouma are French nationals currently at the club.
As the transfer window opens soon, Mourinho is already planning a swoop of Ligue one players, and the official language at the bridge might just become French! Bids have been made on Olympique Marseille pairs, midfielder Giannelli Imbula and winger Florian Thauvin, and Olympique Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette. The Portuguese is on course to strengthen his squad, while he releases some current squad members. Imbula is needed in midfield to pair Matic, Lacazette is seen as a suitable striker to pair Diego Costa and Thauvin is needed on the wings.
Two Frenchmen not playing in the Ligue one are also being targeted. Atletico Madrid’s forward Antoine Griezmann and Southampton’s midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin are likely to head to the bridge too by next summer. The latter has expressed desire to play in the Champions League, while the former, who is currently 3rd highest goal scorer in the La Liga, has triggered a Chelsea bid following his cheap buyout clause.
Next season promises to be great for Chelsea with the stock of French players they are currently planning on bringing to the team. French, German or Barbarian, the special one doesn’t mind as long as trophies are won.
