From the best right back in the Premier League last season, Branislav Ivanovic has been reduced to a classless right back after series of underwhelming performance.
The blues have resolved to sell the aforementioned Serbian to Inter Milan after the San Siro giants reportedly tabled a bid for the player.
Jose Mourinho was close to selling the right back during the summer when he envisaged the player was going to put up some low performances but the player opted to remain at Stamford Bridge.
However, beginning this season, the 31-year-old Serbian has been fingered as the weakest link in the defence line of Chelsea. Blamed for his pace and poor marksmanship but even in his absence, Chelsea have conceded goals.
Meanwhile, he is in the final year of his contract with Chelsea but the Blues have a policy of handing just one year extension to players above the age of 30.
With the current problems bedeviling the defence of Chelsea, it is highly unlikely that they will retain the player after this season and they will be looking to cash in on him.
Meanwhile, Chelsea lost to Stoke City last Saturday and they has fuelled speculation over the future of most of the players above 30 years as the whole team might be overhauled.
The Blues are now resting in 16th position on the Premier League log and risk not qualifying for Champions League.
