The Stamford bridge won’t be getting a transfer from the San Siro by summer, as their Inter Milan target, Mauro Icardi is set to sign a new deal worth four times his current deal after talks stalled over the last few weeks. It had seemed like the 22 year-old Argentine had called time on his Serie A stay and Chelsea were poised to get him once the transfer window opens. But there isn’t any of hope of having him in Chelsea or any of the EPL team by next season as the striker has chosen to remain with Internazionale.

The decision to stay comes from the power given to his wife to negotiate further contract talks with the Italian giants. The new deal will see the player’s image rights transferred to Inter, and he will be earning a yearly wages worth 3 million pounds. Although future huge losses are being put at risk with such signing.

Icardi, who is regarded as one of the most lethal young strikers all around Europe’s elite leagues, has put up strings of eye-catching performances for Inter this season in just his sophomore Serie A outing for the club. The Barcelona academy alumnus, who played earlier for Sampdoria following his arrival from Spain is joint-highest goal scorer with Carlos Tévez at 20 goals.

Such performances have made him a target for Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal. With Inter at 8th placed, and having always been below the Champions  League spot for the majority of the season, Icardi was said to be keen to join a club that plays the continental league frequently, and Chelsea was tipped as a favourite destination. But the same reason why he fell apart with his former club’s teammate, Maxi Lopez, is here again to stop him from leaving Italy.
