Championship side Middlesbrough are reportedly edging closer in the pursuit of Chelsea defender Nathan Ake.
The 20-year old Dutch defender finished his one-month emergency loan with Reading but it is believed that he could be farmed out elsewhere next season as he is down the pecking order in the Chelsea defensive setup with Terry, Zouma, Cahill all first team starters in the team.
TLW reports that Boro boss Aitor Karanka is a big admirer of Ake and is reportedly poised to clinching the 20 year old from Chelsea, this summer regarding a season-long spell at the Riverside Stadium next term.
Good move?
Ake is a talented young player who is only 20 years of age, but it doesn’t look likely that he will be able break into the Chelsea starting line-up soon. The youngster recently completed a one-month loan spell at Championship club Reading and is now back at his parent club Chelsea.
One suspects that whether or Middlesbrough get to sign Ake on a permanent deal will depend on the youngster, who will probably want to have the chance to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world – Chelsea – in the coming years.
A loan move appears to suit all parties. Boro will get a young defender with potential, and Chelsea will get to see how Ake performs in the Premier League on a regular basis.
For the player himself, the loan spell would represent an opportunity to show Mourinho what he is capable of.
