Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has given a hint that there will be a major overhaul of his team this summer, and says that five promising youngsters will be promoted to the Chelsea first team squad for next season.
There has been a ban on talking to players about extending their contracts until the end of the season, but Ancelotti says there is no rush to finish negotiations.
“We are involved in very important competitions and we will take the decision after that.” Ancelotti said. “We have time because the season will finish May 15, and we will start in July, so we have May and June to take decisions about players without contracts, It does not depend on winning the league.
“The only sure thing is that next year there will be five players from the Academy in the squad because they deserve to be.
“Some players maybe will move, because we want to give strength to our Academy, we have very good young players and it is the time to put them in the squad for next year, they are able to stay in the Chelsea squad.”
It is thought that four of those players are guaranteed to be Gael Kakuta, Jeffrey Bruma, Nemanja Matic and Fabio Borini, who have all impressed Ancelotti this season.
The Italian coach was then asked if the Chelsea fans would be unhappy if they don’t sign any big name players this summer. “I think the fans will be happy if the team wins the title and the FA Cup. After that they will see some new players in the future. The most important thing is they don’t need to see a new coach!”
If we win the Double I don’t think Ancelotti need worry on that score!
