Ancelotti – I want to coach Roma (but not tomorrow!)

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is busy preparing for the crunch game against Manchester United this weekend. However rumours about his future at Stamford Bridge have returned after a 24 hour visit to Rome.

Chelsea looked to be heading to a trophy-less season prompting Roman Abramovich to consider firing the Italian coach. But even with the Premier League title a possibility once again Ancelotti’s future is still in doubt. The Sun reports that excited Roma fans called in to radio stations to report that Ancelotti had been spotted in the Italian capital.

Ancelotti has admitted: “I have expressed many times it is my wish to one day coach Roma – that has always been my desire. However, this doesn’t mean that I will do it tomorrow”.

The official reason for Ancelotti’s trip to Rome was to celebrate the 50th birthday of his former wife. But this hasn’t stopped speculation that he secretly met representatives from Roma as well.

Abramovich is rumoured to want to bring in close friend Guus Hiddink, who briefly managed Chelsea when Felipe Scolari was sacked. Hiddink is tied up with the Turkish national squad for now, but he may be free to join Chelsea if he does not manage to guide Turkey to a play-off place for Euro 2012.
