Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has played down the dip in form his side has been going through, stating he can still win the EPL title.
Chelsea have only won once in their last 5 EPL games, yet they are still at the very top, so maybe Ancelotti’s got a point. However, this only highlights the poor form his direct competitors have been on as well, but if they carry on with that form any further there might as well be a major challenge by many non-Big Four sides, with Aston Villa coming on top of the pile.
“Our aim is to win the title and we are still top of the league at this time,” Ancelotti stated.
“Today we are halfway through the season and top so it’s good for us. We hope to stay there. We do a good job if we work hard and I think we can still win.
“We have to find other solutions, we have a very good squad. This is not a good result for us. It is not a good moment for us but I do not see a big problem.
“We are missing good players in Nicolas Anelka and Michael Essien but we still played good football.
“Birmingham and our next opponents Fulham are in good condition and these are tough games. But I do not see a problem.”
Ancelotti will certainly be pleased to learn the Ivoirian FA has agreed to let both Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou play one more game for the Blues before they’re off to attend the final camp of the Ivoirian national squad before CAN 2010 finals kick off in Angola on Jan 10th.
