Ancelotti – Shevchenko stays, and he will be part of the Chelsea team

The Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has said that Andriy Shevchenko will not be leaving during the transfer window, and if the Ukrainian star manages to stay fit and motivated then he will get some games.

Ancelotti also had Sheva at AC Milan last season, and he only used him nine times in the whole season, but he is sure that this season could be different. He said: “Sheva is in better condition than last year at Milan. But we have a lot of strikers here. For him it’s not easy to find a place on the pitch.

“He has trained very well, with no problems. He’s happy to stay and work very hard. He has a good position in the squad because his team-mates appreciate him and like his work.

“He’s happy to stay because there is a good atmosphere in the team. He knows well that it is not easy to get into the team at Chelsea. There is competition not just for Sheva but everyone. It’s normal in this team.”

“Sheva had a physical problem when he first came here. Now he has overcome that. Now he can put his quality into the team.

“He wants to stay. Every player wants to play, and when they don’t it’s difficult to maintain a good feeling, atmosphere and motivation. But now he has a good motivation.

“He does not have any problems mentally. He is well. If he stays well, for sure I will be happy to use him. But I have to choose and it’s not easy.”

With Drogba, Anelka, Kalou and Sturridge ahead of Shevchenko in the pecking order, he can only expect cameo appearances at the moment, but if there were to be a few injuries….especially during January when Drogba and Kalou will be at the African Nations Cup, well you never know he might be needed.
