Andre Villas-Boas Confident Over Drogba Contract Talks

Didier Drogba is out of contract in the summer and the big Ivorian striker has yet to sign a new deal with the club he loves, but blues boss Andre Villas-Boas is confident he will sign when he is good and ready.

According to reports contract negotiations are well advanced with Drogba who has been at Chelsea for seven years now, but nothing has been agreed. Villas-Boas is not someone who worries easily and in his usual relaxed manner he said, “I don’t see it as a big issue. Players who are attached emotionally to this club, and Didier is attached emotionally to this club, will eventually renew their contract. So I go into no panic on that situation.”

With Daniel Sturridge, Romelu Lukaku and Fernando Torres at Chelsea now the addition of Drogba would make four great strikers and leave plenty of room for rotation that managers love these days.

Also by using the rotation system the likes of Drogba will be able to extend their Chelsea careers by an extra year or two and pass on his knowledge to youngsters like Sturridge and Lukaku. Giving Drogba a new contract can only be good for Chelsea.
