Reports coming out of Spain indicated that Antoine Griezmann could become a Chelsea player soon. It was reported that verbal agreement has been reached with the player; it is only left for Chelsea and Atletico Madrid to come to an agreement on the sales of the 24-year old attacking midfielder as Chelsea have already triggered the release clause.
The France international was linked to Chelsea all through last summer and it was also reported that Chelsea technical director, Michael Enemaelo was in Spain earlier to hold talks with the Spanish giants over a deal for the goal scoring winger.
Antoine Griezmann has been identified as Chelsea’s number one target for this January transfer and a deal could be finalized sooner than expected. The France international signed a new deal last year after Atletico Madrid resisted any move for him, but that will not stop the English champions from making attempts at signing him.
The 24-year old Frenchman has scored 8 league goals this season with 4 other goals in 6 UEFA champions league games; he has netted 13 times in all competitions this season. If he should make the move to Chelsea, his goals and assists may contribute to a possible resurgent by the Blues.
Chelsea are also considering other attackers like Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy, Shakhtar Donetsk’s Alex Teixeira, Brazilian forward Alex Pato and former Chelsea player Romelo Lukaku. Chelsea have been poor form this season and there is need for them to beef up their attacks as the season enters into the second half.
