As Atletico Madrid succumbed to the higher footballing powers of Barcelona once again this season, it gave way to the Catalunya clinching the La Liga trophy as they defeated the Rojiblancos at their forte, the Vicente Calderon. Sport 1’s Spanish commentator declared during the decisive match,

“Antoinne Griezmann’s head is in London, it’s just his feet that are in Madrid”

It couldn’t be more true, as the 24 year-old was practically lost on the field, and Messi’s 2nd half strike sealed the deal for Barcelona. Griezmann has only spent a season in Atletico Madrid following his transfer from Real Sociedad last season, and all things being equal, the France international will be in Chelsea by summer. The transfer is almost concluded, as super agent, Jorge Mendes has stepped in to persuade him move to the Stamford Bridge when the transfer window opens. Atletico Madrid have been reluctant to let him leave, as his contributions to the club this season are much.

Griezmann, with 22 League goals is currently 3rd joint highest goal scorer alongside Barcelona’s Neymar. Diego Simeone had initially made the club increase his buyout clause as twice as his former buyout clause, and he is still hoping for another rise in the player’s price as he had hope to scare high-spending Chelsea away with it. But with Jorge’s involvement, the same agent of Mourinho and Costa, Chelsea will most likely be parting with just 35 million pounds and also involve their former left back, Filipe Luis as makeweight in order to realize the transfer. Chelsea are also keen on getting the club’s midfielder, Koke, as they make efforts to add to the squad in preparation towards next season.

If both transfer should work out for Chelsea, then they will have to sell, say Loic Remy in order to balance their financial transactions according to the FFP rule.
