Telegraph journalist Jason Burt believes Antoine Griezmann’s arrival at Chelsea would spell bad news for striker Loic Remy. Antoine Griezmann is open to a summer move to Chelsea and is keen to find out whether the Premier League champions will make a serious bid to sign him
Chelsea have tracked Griezmann for two years and are well aware of the clause in his Atlético contract that would force the Spanish club into allowing another player to make the move to Stamford Bridge. And a move this summer could well be on cards, with Jason Burt indicating that Griezmann has a release clause of £43 million, which Chelsea are interested in meeting.
Griezmann can play anywhere across a front three and has scored 22 goals in 34 La Liga games this season. With Didier Drogba possibly moving to Major League Soccer and Chelsea only replacing André Schürrle and Mohamed Salah with Juan Cuadrado in January, Chelsea could be in the market for more than one forward this summer.
Atlético coach Diego Simeone is adamant the club should not sell Griezmann after just one season, but the 24-year-old is clearly not discouraging Chelsea’s interest.
