Are Chelsea All Set To Go Dutch?

Everybody, myself included, is fed up with all the rumours and talk surrounding Chelsea’s proposed move for Luka Modric, and now the club look as though they are too, as there are reports doing the rounds this morning saying that the club are now turning their attentions to Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder.

Manchester United have been chasing Sneijder all summer, but they have been put off by the players high wage demands which are believed to be in the region of £200,000 per week. They would not be a problem for Chelsea, nor would the proposed fee of around £35million, as it appears owner Roman Abramovich will stop at nothing in his attempts to regain the Premier League title.

Sneijder appears to be unsettled by all the latest news and he said in an interview at the weekend, “I’m for sale if the right offer comes in. I have five days off after the friendly against England on Wednesday. I expect clarity on my future by then.”

The friendly between England and Holland has now been called off due to all the public unrest in London, so a decision on Sneijder’s future may be made sooner rather than later.

The bookmakers are not fazed by the latest rumours and they think that he will still be going to Manchester United rather than Chelsea, as today they are offering odds of just 1/2 (1.50) on such a move, with 20/1 (21.0) available on a move to Chelsea. So perhaps Chelsea going Dutch is just another rumour, or is it?
