It is no longer news that Atletico Madrid’s forward, 24 year old Antoine Griezmann is on his way to Chelsea. The transfer deal that was looking to fall through now looks heading for a clear coast, following the intervention of higher powers. Portuguese super agent, Jorge Mendes has stepped in, and in few weeks time, the France international should be preparing for a Stamford bridge move. Rojiblancos are notoriously known to always sell and find worthy replacement after every sale. Falcao got replaced by Costa, Costa was replaced by Manduzkic, and it’s Griezmann’s turn to be replaced.

Hence, Atletico Madrid are preparing for his departure and making bids for Elche’s Brazilian forward Jonathas de Jesus. Even with 22 league goals, Griezmann couldn’t fire the team to a Liga victory, and the team bowed out of the Champions League at the quarter finals to arch enemies, Real Madrid. Diego Simeone wants a worthy replacement, and someone who can also reenact a Diego Costa feel. And Jonathas is seen as that perfect figure. The Elche forward, on loan from Serie A’s Pescara, has 11 goals in 31 games this season. He is responsible for one-third of all the club’s goals this season. However, Elche won’t be able to hold on any longer to him, due to financial constraints. But as he departs, Scotland club, Celtic wants his services, and they are strong contenders for the striker’s signature.

The Scottish giants’ scouts have watched him play a couple of matches, and they plan to get his as replacement for Manchester City’s On-loan striker John Guidetti. Atletico will have to make strong bids to win the race for the signature of the 26 year-old. But whatever happens, trust them to get a suitable replacement for Griezmann.
