AVB To Raid Liverpool As Search For New Players Goes On
Andre Villas-Boas is becoming more and more frustrated in his attempts to sign new creative midfielders, because as yet none of his desired targets have put pen to paper and signed for Chelsea. Luka Modric and Javier Pastore have been talked about all summer long, but there are reports doing the rounds today that he is now interested in signing Liverpool’s Raul Meireles.
Meireles was at Porto when AVB took over the managers post, but he left just six weeks later and joined Liverpool. Kenny Dalglish has signed three new midfielders this summer, and it is thought that Meireles may be a player that he is prepared to let go.
In his time at Porto Meireles was no stranger to success and helped his club win four league titles. Chelsea can offer Champions League football this season, and for the foreseeable future, but Liverpool cannot and are not even in the Europa League this season.
The main stumbling block over any deal taking place is that Liverpool are unlikely to sell to a Premier League rival. There is also the added news about their captain Steven Gerrard being out until the middle of September, so it would seem that this transfer is a complete non-starter, but once players get wind of another clubs interest you just never know. How does a midfield trio of Modric, Kaka and Meireles sound to you?

and as far as not needing midfield help, come on folks, are you wanting to challenge barca and mancity and manu or be like arsenal and just ensure we are top 4 each year? we NEEDED midfield help before essien went down. we certainly need it now he is out til winter.
