The Portsmouth midfielder Michael Brown says that Avram Grant can engineer a win against his old club, Chelsea, in the FA Cup Final next month, just like he did against Tottenham in the semi-final.
Brown said: “If anybody knows how to beat Chelsea, it’s Avram.
“Nobody expected us to beat Tottenham but we did and I am sure he’ll be looking to do it again against Chelsea.
“If we win, it will be something very special. Chelsea will be a tough, tough game – but with the magic of the FA Cup and a little help from Avram, you never know.”
He also said that the Portsmouth players were still in ecstasy over beating their old manager Harry Redknapp’s Tottenham team, against all the odds.
“We got relegated on Saturday but it didn’t even sink in. Nobody mentioned it.
“In our minds, the league has been long gone, we were only worrying about the semi-final. This softens the blow as far as going down is concerned.
“Relegation was almost out of our control with the points deduction but we knew we could do something about the FA Cup.
“It still hasn’t sunk in what a fabulous result it was. We had nothing to lose whatsoever.
“I think the bookies had us at 11-1 to win – I wish I’d had a fiver on it. I hope a few of our fans did.
“There’s a lot of recent history between the two clubs with the players and the manager going in and out. I think the fans will thoroughly enjoy that. It’s a little reward for what will be a Championship season next year.
“I certainly enjoyed the win over Tottenham – beating your old club is always very nice.
“It was tough for them because they were expected to win easily. Whatever happened they had to win and it’s hard to play like that.”
Just like Chelsea will be expected to do in the Final………..
