Betting Preview – Improved Chelsea great odds to beat Man United today

Considering the start that Chelsea have had this season compared to their great rivals Man United you would think that they would be a much shorter price to beat Alex Ferguson’s team today.

Both Stan James and William Hill have set the Chelsea odds at a brilliant 6/4. The fact that Chelsea have won every home game so far (and are unbeaten away as well) would suggest they should be shorter, and also the historical fact that United haven’t won at Stamford Bridge since 2002!

Against all those figures though any United fan could point out that Chelsea haven’t beaten their team in the last five meetings in all competitions, and will certainly be playing their hearts out to stay in touch at the top of the Premier League. They could argue that all the pressure will be on the Blues to maintain their excellent start to the season.

For those who want to oppose Chelsea, you can get as high as 11/5 for United to win, whereas the draw is a more reasonable 9/4 or better, and surely that is really the best that Ferguson could hope for?

These games are usually highscoring affairs and there will certainly be some smart money on the 2-2 draw which is available at 12/1 from most bookies, but I am going to bet with my heart and will have my hard-earned fivers on Chelsea to win 3-1 (@ 25/1 from Stan James) and 4-1 (@ 50/1).

What do you think the score will be?
