Bookmaker, Ladbrokes has placed Chelsea in the forefront to sign Atletico Madrid striker as they are now 3/1 to sign him. The striker has been the shadow of himself at the Vicente Calderon this season since he joined from FC Porto last summer. He has only netted 2 times in 12 appearances for the La liga side this season and he is likely going to leave during the January transfer window.
Jackson Martinez’s agent, Henrique Pompeo told ESPN that Chelsea are the favorite to sign the Colombian forward as they have shown interest, but he said that his client is happy to be at Madrid. Nevertheless, the Henrique Pompeo did not rule out the possibility of Jackson Martinez moving over to Chelsea or any other club soon.
The Colombia international was very prolific when he was at FC Porto as he scored very much then. He was the top scorer of the Portuguese Primera liga for the 3 seasons that he spent there and he also netted 7 goals in 8 UEFA Champions league games for FC Porto last season.
If the deal is sealed, he would be replacing Chelsea misfiring striker, Diego Costa, who also has been out of form and he could leave the English champions soon. Costa has scored only 5 league games after 19 matches, unlike 12 goals he scored at this stage last season under Jose Mourinho.
Tottenham Hotspurs are currently priced at 5/1 to seal a move for the 29-year old striker.
