Chelsea has in the last few weeks linked to a move for Atletico Madrid’s trio of Antoine Griezmann, Koke and Diego Godin with Chelsea’s left back Luis Filipe said to be on his way back to Atletico Madrid from where he was bought just last season for a fee said to be £15.8 million.
However, Chelsea can perish the thoughts of signing Koke as according to reports from Spain, the Spanish club will not be entertaining any offers for the player. According to highly reliable Madrid based media outlet Marca, Atletico have told Chelsea and other clubs that have made enquiry about the player that they are not willing to sell him.
Last summer the player was linked with a €60m move to Barca and Manchester United but Atletic decided not to sell and the player himself has confirmed he is happy at the Madrid club and he is not considering leaving any time soon. The player when asked whether it is 100 percent that he will remain at Atletico once the transfer window closes on September 1 and he replied “YES”.
According to Marca, Atletic’s maneger Digeo Simeone is trying to build a team and sees the young Spanish as key to his plan. It was initially thought a €60m bid for the player would turn their head and sanction the sale of the player especially as the club has a big debt hanging on their head but if Marca sources are right and Atletico refuse to sell even at €60m, then one can assume that the money Atletico recieved from playing in the champions league in the last two seasons has made them healthy and can afford not to sell for money.
This will be a big blow to all Chelsea fans but objectively, with Oscar, Ramires, Willian and Fabregas already in the team, Chelsea do not really have a special need for Koke.
