The England manager Fabio Capello has every intention of playing the Chelsea captain John Terry in the friendly match against Spain this weekend, but will reconsider his position if Terry is found guilty of racism after the FA’s enquiry.
Capello is working on the basis that Terry is innocent until proven guilty, according to a source from England that spoke to the major TV channel ESPN.
The source said today: “Fabio has given much thought to the situation, and we all appreciate if it a difficult one. However, it would be unfair to punish him by leaving him out of the England team, before any judgement or indeed any charges have been made.
“The FA might have a different view, but normally the selection of the players is with the manager who has the final say and Fabio is inclined to select him. if, though, he is found guilty then there is no doubt that John Terry can face being left out of the England team.”
His position is absolutely right, and whatever anyones opinion is, Terry should only be judged when the facts are decided in a court of law….
