Chelsea £150,000-A-Week Target Provides GREAT Transfer Hint

Raheem Sterling

Liverpool star and English international Raheem Sterling has officially listed his Merseyside home for sale. He is also reportedly looking to purchase a new home in London, furthering rumors of a possible move to either Arsenal or Chelsea. After rejecting a £100,000 a week contract at Liverpool, England’s top clubs have been linked to signing the 20 year old. Chelsea is in need of another winger, or an attacking midfielder, and since Sterling already has Premier League experience, is English, and only 20 years old and already highly rated, he would be a great signing. And because Sterling’s current contract expires at the end of the season, he would be on a free transfer, and Mourinho could look to spend money on other needs, such as a reserve holding midfielder, an extra full-back, another striker and even a backup goalkeeper.

Sterling has had an amazing 2014/2015 campaign with Liverpool, scoring seven goals and assisting another seven in 34 Premier League appearances. His flexibility position-wise allows him to play on either side as a winger, as a central attacking midfielder, and even a forward. He has been priceless to Brendan Rodgers this season, and if they cannot agree on a contract this summer, Mourinho and Abramovich will be able to give him what he wants, the money and the trophies.

Signing Sterling would also benefit Chelsea because it directly hurts two of the Blue’s rivals. Arsenal is in dire need of another attacking player, and Sterling is the only bright spot in Liverpool’s squad. Sterling is not a necessity at Stamford Bridge, but he would be a key player in Mourinho’s squad, most likely moving Willian to the number 10 role, which is his natural position. Plus, the signing of Sterling would most likely lead to the sale of Oscar, who Juventus is rumored to be keen of. Oscar could be sold for around £30million, which could help fund the signing of Paul Pogba or Koke.

With today’s Financial Fair Play rules in full blast, Chelsea will have to look to raise funds to sign new players, but with Sterling’s contract situation, he would be available on a free transfer, which is a huge boost to any team if they can fill a position for free.
