Chelsea Changes Mind On Thibaut Courtois

West London club Chelsea have told Thibaut Courtois he should return to the club this summer. He is expected to start next season as the first choice goal keeper.

The Belgian international has spent the last three seasons on loan to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and was expected to continue a fourth season with them but Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho wants him back at Stamford Bridge.

Courtois has always maintained that he would not be playing second fiddle to Cech. Real Madrid are said to observing the situation closely.

The mirror reveals that Mourinho wants Courtois back at Stamford Bridge following injuries sustained by their first choice goalkeeper Petr Cech in their game against Atletico Madrid.

Cech sustained a shoulder injury in that encounter and may be out of action for about three months. Courtois has been told he would be given the gloves as the first choice goal tender next season.

The Belgian’s next real test may be against his loan club Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their semi final match at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea were forced to bring in reserve keeper Mark Scwarzer to replace injured Cech. Schwarzer’s defence would be significantly boosted by the dramatic recovery of John Terry from injury.

The captain was carried off the pitch in their game against the La Liga leaders. Mourinho had already ruled him out of the rest of the season unless Chelsea reaches the final.

Terry underwent treatment at Chelsea’s Cobham’s training facility and believes he would be fit for the second leg. The coach would love to see his captain train with the rest of the team as this would be a biug morale booster for the squad.

Courtois is a great goalkeeper no doubt. He knows his worth and insists he gets regular first team action. For Petr Cech, one only wishes that he recovers real fast.
