Chelsea CLOSE To Another Signing, Deal For £50,000-A-Week Star Is Almost Done

John Ruddy

As speculations grow concerning the future of Petr Cech at the Stamford bridge, high-spending Turkish league club, Besiktas are the latest suitors poised to get the signature of the Czech skipper. And despite several big names in the goalkeeping world being linked as his replacement when  he eventually departs, Norwich goalie John Ruddy joins the long list of possible recruitments. The Caneries who are currently in the Championships playoffs, in order to get promoted to the EPL, twice rejected a bid for the experienced shotstopper back in 2013. But are keen to let him go this time around, if Chelsea are willing to meet their demands. The side’s head coach, Alex Neil has declared,

“If Chelsea and Jose want John then they can pick up the phone and get the chequebook out. It is part of the game and it doesn’t concern me in the slightest. It doesn’t matter what league you are in there is always going to be interest. That will happen regardless of the situation we are in right now, particularly around good players who have had a good season.”

The Norfolk club will be willing to cash on the one-time capped England international if they don’t get promoted to the Premier League. Although, Ruddy has a contract with the club until 2017, an offer more than the £5 million pounds they offered in 2013 will get him out of the club. The keeper who has gone ahead to make over 184 appearances for Norwich city since signing from Everton 3 years ago, has over 10 years of experience in his gloves, and would no doubt make up a good addition to the pensioners, and even add to the homegrown quota.

As Cech is likely to end up in Turkey like his agent, Viktor Kolar said (“I have been in contact with Besiktas. Their officials contacted me, and we are in talks. Turkey is a choice for Cech. But we will make a decision once the league season is over.”), clubs like Arsenal, Monaco and PSG will have to look elsewhere for a goalie. As they do, Chelsea will be looking at landing the 28 year-old in Stamford bridge next season.
