With Mauro Icardi’s new contract talks declared to have stalled at the moment, the Inter- Milan striker is set to be signed by Chelsea for 22 million pounds. The 22 year-old Argentine and former Barcelona team B player, recently turned down an offer of 60,000 pounds per week in wages at the San Siro side. And it seems the only thing on his mind are trophies and Champion League action – both currently missing at Inter Milan, and Icardi wants to move on.

The striker has 19 goals in 34 Serie A matches this season. Mourinho is said to be impressed with his displays and is keen on getting him. As he sees him as a great recruitment and solution for Chelsea’s attack line problems. The former Sampdoria forward, who joined the Serie A side on loan from Barcelona in 2011, raised eyebrows following his displays with the side, and after making a permanent move, Inter came calling. The 1-time capped Argentina international, who couldn’t find his feet while at Barcelona, has a deal with Inter till 2018, but he isn’t likely to remain with the side more than the end of this season.

Mauro Icardi is also said to be keen on getting a better pay from Inter, better than what the new deal offers. And the likes of EPL big-money spenders, United, Liverpool and Chelsea are all ready to meet his personal demands. And with Atletico planning on keeping Chelsea off Griezmann and Koke by increasing their buyout clauses to up to 100 million pounds, the pensioners will now likely focus on Icardi as a top priority target for fast-approaching summer transfer window. His refusal to agree to new terms at Inter will however boost Chelsea’s chances of signing him.
