Chelsea are reportedly in talks to sign Colombian forward Radamel Falcao Portuguese Journalist Goncalo Lopez has revealed.

Lopez revealed that a deal looks not far away and Chelsea can clinch the former Manchester United forward “if” Jose Mourinho gives the go-ahead. Already Jorge Mendes the player’s agent has reportedly flown to London to hold talks with Mourinho is a good friend of his. Falcao who is returning to Monaco this summer after a loan spell at Manchester United, is determined to play in the Premier League again and is reportedly willing to take a pay cut.

Falcao flopped during his season on loan at Manchester United from Monaco, scoring just four goals in 29 appearances before Louis van Gaal confirmed last weekend that he has decided not to go ahead with a permanent deal worth £44million.

Chelsea need a striker and need more competition for Diego Costa, Falcao would be a risk but he’d also be one of few high calibre strikers willing to be second or third choice striker and battle for his place. With Financial fair play taken in to account, if the fee is right or even a loan deal,He might move to Stamford Bridge.

Falcao came to the Premier League with a lethal reputation in front of goal to uphold, but only managed to find the net four times for United—provoking an influx of much-deserved criticism.

However, he could still prove a lot of people wrong, and he certainly fits the bill for what Chelsea need. Following Didier Drogba’s departure and the fact that Loic Remy’s future at Stamford Bridge is somewhat uncertain, there’s certainly room for a new striker in the Blues’ setup.

Falcao is undoubtedly an excellent player—that one is a given—his worth is all just a case of whether or not he can pull himself out of this slump. Under Mourinho’s watch, however, he’s in the right hands to do just that.
