In their usual catch-them-young move, Chelsea has headed for Belgium in order to bring 15 year-old Thibaud Verlinden to the Stamford bridge. But of course he won’t be in the first team, but he will be a good addition to the trophy-winning sides of the club’s youth teams. Thibaud Verlinden currently plays for Standard Liege and the Belgium under-16 team. The attacking midfielder is said to be highly regarded in the Belgium youth team.
He has also attracted offers from the likes of Liverpool and Everton, but doesn’t have a deal with Chelsea yet, and they are still monitoring the situation of the starlet. Chelsea however hopes he can follow the steps of fellow Belgian, PFA player of the season Eden Hazard and become a key future Chelsea player anytime soon.
The Chelsea youth team is full of great talents and potentials, and Thibaud will definitely be exposed to a lot of development and grooming in the side. The academy team has won the F.A cup, UEFA champions league and currently place 3rd in the League. Thibaud will definitely be loaned out if a deal is struck with Standard Liege. And a couple of loans at top clubs around Europe will expose him to first team action.
With Chelsea planning on making his country’s clubs, Royal Mouscron-Peruwelz and Royal White Star Bruxelles their feeder teams, a move to either of the teams on loan might just do him good. Or the pensioners might loan him to the Netherlands league. But wherever he is deployed to for first team action and development, the wonder kid will definitely make a great potential in seasons to come. And that could save them some transfer cost in the nearest future. As Chelsea continues to boost their crop of youth talents, the Belgian kid, whose father Dany played in goal for Club Brugge, will definitely be a great addition to the side.
