Demba Ba held talks with Chelsea on Sunday night, but failed to agree on two fronts.
The two parties failed to agree over agent fees, with Chelsea refusing to pay over £2.5million, and a small disagreement over Demba Ba’s starting wage for the club.
Chelsea reportedly offered the striker £65K a week, with the striker seeking nearer £85K to join the Blues.
Ba has been in outstanding form since his arrival at St James Park 18 months ago, scoring 29 goals in his 54 appearances in the Premier League for Newcastle, including 13 PL goals so far this term.
Senegal having not qualified for this year’s African Cup of Nations is another plus, with Chelsea already losing Victor Moses and John Obi Mikel to international duty half-way through January.
Chelsea are also looking to off-load Daniel Sturridge for around £13M to Liverpool, with the small details being fine-combed as we speak.
Chelsea are confident the 27 year-old’s agents will not block his transfer to the West-Londoners, and that a compromise will be met over his wages.
Chelsea are expected to hold further talks with Demba Ba and his representatives over the next week, with the deal expected to be completed before their players leave on African Nations duty.
FORGET BA AND GET FALCAO
Chelsea should go for a quality striker to help torres
If BA and agents are after money, that will come to a head with time. Better to go for someone who is really interested in Chelsea. Why spend on a guy who will last 3 years and isnt into Chelsea anyway?
BA Is a good striker and Chelsea need him, Torres isn’t convincing yet.
Ba is the idea man for chelsea and not falcao. Talking about quality, Ba has it all.
