Chelsea’s plans to strengthen their attack towards next season are beginning to take shape and form, as they are getting close to securing a deal reportedly worth 22 million pounds on Inter Milan forward, Mauro Icardi. The 22 years old Argentine is ideal for the Chelsea team, and the blues are ready to get him. They even plan to offer more if the 22 million pounds bid is rejected. Some reports claim Chelsea could announce his signing within two weeks.

The forward who has 22 goals already this season isn’t interested in continuing at the club any longer, as he has turned down a contract extension, and further contract renewal talks have been halted.

“It’s at a difficult point, but today is not about that. The people of San Siro love me, and I respect them so much. I try to make them happy in every game. I’m young, I’m only 22, and I hope I can have a career like Zanetti did. Although if I score 200 Serie A goals I’ll probably retire earlier than he did! ” Icardi was quoted as saying

The Forward has been regularly linked with Chelsea, and the move could materialize when the transfer window opens. With Didier Drogba and Loic Remy set to depart at the end of the season, Icardi will be the best striker to support Costa.

The Blues won their first league title in 5 seasons with a victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday, but were rusty in attack generally as their newly-signed strikers picked up frequent injuries all through the season. The coach is keen on having a striker of quality, who is able to help the team do better especially at Champions League level. Mauro Icardi is definitely such a striker.
