With the signing of La Liga’s 3rd highest goal scorer this season presenting more hurdles and obstacles for Chelsea, the interest of Colombian forward, Radamel Falcao for a move to Stamford bridge could lessen Chelsea’s efforts in the pursuit of Griezmann.
Atletico Madrid aren’t willing to release the France international for a fees less than £47 million pounds, even though Jose Mourinho still hopes a deal can be cut with the Rojiblancos, as they enjoy good working relationship, as proved by a double-transfer from the Vicente Calderon to Stamford bridge last season.
But as it doesn’t seem agent Jorge Mendes’ efforts are helping out in the transfer, the Portuguese might rather channel his efforts into making Falcao get the Chelsea move he so wishes after failing to impress at United following his loan transfer from Monaco.
If that happens, and given that the Colombian international might pick up form in Chelsea, a move for Griezmann isn’t likely to remain top priority again. All hope isn’t however lost yet, as the cordiality between Atletico’s C.E.O, Michelangelo Gil Marin and Mendes might still come to the fore and work out something. But Chelsea wouldn’t be losing on both ends no matter what happens, as Falcao remains a guaranteed backup plan.
