Goalkeepers aren’t left out in the speculations and rumours associated with transfers. Chelsea out-of-favour shot stopper, Petr Cech has become transfer targets of major clubs around Europe. Ranging from PSG, Arsenal, Liverpool and of recent, Tottenham Hotspurs. The London side are the latest to join the race for the 32 years old keeper’s signature.
Tottenham hopes he can replace Hugo Lloris, as the French international is reportedly heading towards Manchester United. The Red Devils could lose Degea to Liga giants, Real Madrid, and Hugo Lloris seems a perfect replacement. With the French keeper’s departure imminent, Tottenham aren’t ready to take chances of not getting a good stopper, hence their willingness to offer 10 million pounds for Cech.
Cech has been out of favor in the starting lineup at the bridge following Courtois’ arrival from a 3-season Atletico Madrid loan. The Belgian has been preferred to the Czech’s international, and Petr could only get 6 appearances in the league this season. The Chelsea management is willing to let him go at the end of the season, and Tottenham wouldn’t be a bad choice as his family is also settled in London.
Tottenham couldn’t get a Champions League spot finish, and Hugo Lloris is definitely heading out of White Hart lane, since he won’t be getting the Champions League action he so desires if he continues to stay. With Petr Cech still in good shape and wanting first team action, it could become a win – win situation for both Tottenham and the keeper, given that their interests are mutually beneficial.
Cech has more than 20 personal accolades in his career as a goal keeper, and such a veteran shouldn’t be relegated to the bench when he still has much left him. It seems after spending more than a decade at the club, his time to bid goodbye has come. He has been given free hand to choose whichever club he wants. Tottenham or elsewhere, Cech will leave Chelsea a legend.
