Chelsea Could Sign Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos – Reports

Reports in the English press has it that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is closely monitoring Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos’ contract situation with a view of making approach for the central defender if new contract negotiation stalls.

Chelsea have been out for a central defender with skipper John Terry having just few years left in him for top flight football. Chelsea’s defence have been the best in the league this campaign but Gary Cahill have looked shaky in recent games and this could see Mourinho make approach for his former player at the Bernabeu.

Sergio Ramos has not agreed a new deal with the Los Blancos and this has alerted top clubs like Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain to the availability of the player.

Jose Mourinho worked with Ramos during his three years spell at Real Madrid though, the relationship between the two seems frosty majority of the time but it is believed that they both regard each other very highly.

Ramos was one of the best performers for the club during Mourinho’s time and is always ready to put himself on the line for the club and Mourinho is said to admire those qualities and wouldn’t mind bringing the Spaniard to London.

Madrid will however be reluctant to let the best centre back leave the club even as manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed the club is ready to hold on to the player.

I know that the club wants to extend his contract and that he wants to stay Said Ancelotti.

Ramos will be a great addition to any club as he is currently on of the best centre back in the world. He is a tough tackler and a great reader of the game. His positional awareness is also top notch and he can also pop in the goals especially from set pieces.

He has good experience in all fronts and has won virtually everything there is to be won in football.

It is not likely if he will be willing to move away from the Bernabeu outfit that he joined from Sevilla in 2006. He has made over 400 appearances for the current La Liga leaders and has won every title in the Spanish league including the Champions League, European Cup as well as the FIFA world cup.

Chelsea still has very good and experienced central defenders in John Terry, Gary Cahill and Branislav Ivanovic who can also play in the position when called upon.

Young defenders like Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen are also coming good at the club. Ramos to Chelsea would be a great signing if it ever happens but not one anybody will fuse about if nothing concrete comes out of it.
