The reliable German newspaper, Bild, is sold on the idea that Ilkay Gündoğan will be leaving Borussia Dortmund this summer. After the news of Jürgen Klopp’s departure, many of the German clubs stars have been linked to moves away from the Westfalenstadion. If Dortmund is going to lose players like Gündoğan, Reus, and Hummels, they will have to bring in replacements during the summer transfer window.
Bild has reported that they are keen on buying 18 year-old starlet, Youri Tielemans this summer from RSC Anderlecht. The Belgian midfielder has put on amazing performances in the Belgian top flight this season, which has led to interest from some of Europe’s super giants, and also a new contract. Tielemans signed a deal with Anderlecht last month, but it is not thought that it will be enough to prevent a transfer; it just means that whoever buys him will have to pay more.
His contract now runs through June 2020, and Bild state that his transfer will be around €15million (Just a little more than £10million), for one of Europe’s most chased after young stars, a very low price. It isn’t surprising that Dortmund are mulling over the idea, and that Tielemans would be interested in joining the club. Tielemans would be able to compete for a spot in the first team, and if not he will surely be included in some sort of a rotation, getting plenty of time on the pitch with the first team. When Tielemans is done with his time at Dortmund, his game will have improved massively, and if he wants to leave, than Dortmund will be able to sell up to five fold the price they will buy him at.
Only one real obstacle stands in front of Dortmund, and that is Chelsea. Chelsea have been linked to Tielemans for a while now, but being 18, he might not have a spot in Chelsea’s team. He most likely isn’t interested in sitting on the bench, or being loaned out for multiple seasons until he gets a shot at the first team.
It will be interesting to see where Tielemans ends up playing next season, and he would be a great player at Chelsea or at Dortmund.
